Long Shadows – 52 Week Photography Challenge 2022.

It’s the season of ‘Long Shadows’ in the UK – and this is an observational and creative challenge to inspire your next photo!

WEEK 3
LONG SHADOWS:
With the sun low in the sky (in the UK) then it’s the perfect time of year to observe the elongated shadows cast.

Your challenge is to photograph those unusual shadows. If taking your own shadow, then look for ways your cast shadow can interact with its environment.

No sun, or stuck indoors? No problem! Your torch or another light source can cast your long shadows!

This is one of those challenges that will improve your observational skills as well as inspire creativity.

EACH WEEK for 2022, we will introduce a new Challenge, Task or Idea to stimulate you into taking new photographs. It’s just for fun. We hope you join in each week. If you’ve had a go at one of the ideas before, then don’t miss it out; instead, try to approach the challenge in a new way.

Join in 0n our Facebook Group page with the chat and banter about these challenges; get tips and advice from other members.

Shadows and Silhouettes – creative photography

Our photography subject for our Wednesday 2 September 2020 meet-up at Haven Arms, Hedon, is ‘Shadows and Silhouettes – how to be creative with them’.

Our photography subject for our Wednesday 2 September 2020, 7pm meet-up at Haven Arms, Hedon, is ‘Shadows and Silhouettes – how to be creative with them’.

Shadows are cast by the subject. Silhouettes are backlit. New to photography? We’ll help you use your camera creatively.

We hope to be outside using the setting sun as our light source weather permitting, but will be indoors with flashes and props otherwise.

Wednesday’s activity is part of a regular weekly programme of activities that will now be organised from or at our base at the Haven Arms, Havenside, Hedon. We will be primarily using the outside area of the pub for activities but have the option to gather indoors during inclement weather – and of course, we can benefit from refreshments at the pub!

#NOTE: Social-distancing and contact & trace measures apply.

Hedon-based, free, fun and friendly photography club.

Task 18 – Shadows and Silhouettes!

Shadows
are cast by the subject with the light in front of them.

Silhouettes
(yes, I had to check the spelling too!) are created with the light behind the subject. Have a go at both – look for interesting shapes.

This photo from Pam Watson is an example of both!
