We’ll meet in the public carpark on the dock (search: https://w3w.co/hatch.jelly.taps) just beyond the giant Godwit sculpture.

The trip will coincide with the daily departure of the P&O Hull to Rotterdam ferry at 8.30pm. There’s a walk along the docks (and back) and sunset that night is scheduled at 21:24.

Reminder about Club Competition:  1. Landscape 2. Black & White, and 3. Nature.

A competition to find the best photograph in each of the above categories will be decided by those attending the Hedon Viewfinders meeting on Wednesday 12 June 2019.

Those wishing to enter the competition should submit their photographs (one in each category) by 5pm on Monday 10 June. Your image should be sent to email viewfinders-ttl@gmx.co.uk by that date/time. The title of the image and your name should be included in the email, but the photograph should not have any watermarks or anything that would identify you as the photographer.

Members entering the competition should attend on the night to see all the photographs which will be projected on the big screen. They can join other members present in voting for their best images on the voting slip provided.

There will be some rather nice awards on the night made to the photographers with the winning images!

Show & Tell, Constructive Critique and Winter Flowers!

HEDON Viewfinders next meets on WEDNESDAY 20 FEBRUARY 2019 at the Haven Arms but is also holding a Winter Flowers Photo Walk on SATURDAY 16 FEBRUARY at Sewerby Gardens. Hedon’s free and friendly group where learning about photography is fun!

Show & Tell and Constructive Criticism:

HEDON Viewfinders next meets on WEDNESDAY 20 FEBRUARY 2019 at the Haven Arms starting promptly at 7pm, and is a ‘Show & Tell’ and/or a Constructive Criticism session. You are invited to submit up to three images rather on memory stick/flash drive, or as prints. You may wish to simply show images you are proud of to us all, or you might opt to tell us what you like about them and how you achieved/created them. You can also opt to get some constructive criticism from other attendees about how they think the images may have been improved.

Those who have potential ideas for prints for our Exhibition on “Hedon” in April, May and June, might want to bring in smaller prints (new work, or at least taken in the last 12 months) and gauge a bit of opinion about them to see if it’s worthwhile getting them enlarged, mounted and framed.

Sewerby Gardens Winter flowers photography trip:

We are holding a trip to Sewerby Gardens for a Photo Walk on SATURDAY 16 FEBRUARY principally to experience and photograph the Winter flowers now in bloom! The 50 acre grounds can be explored for free and boast over 10,000 snowdrops and yellow Aconites and wild Cyclamen all in flower. We envisage meeting in the Sewerby Hall Visitor free car park at 11:00am (but keep an eye on this event page for updates). As well as the visit to Sewerby, there’s the options to explore Flamborough or Bridlington too to be decided by those attending.

All Welcome – you don’t have to be a ‘member’ to take part. There’s always enthusiastic photographers present to help with your camera settings and offer other advice should you need it.

Hedon Viewfinders will interest photographers of all levels; regardless of ability, whatever image making device kit or equipment you own. Novices particularly encouraged. Hedon’s free and friendly group where learning about photography is fun!

Graffiti Hunt – Hull Urban Street Art Photowalk – Sat 15 Sept 2018

We are meeting on Humber Dock Marina at Humber Street at 11.00am and we’ll be taking part in a walk that takes us across Hull’s Old Town and eventually leading up to Bankside/Wincolmlee. And aim to end the walk with refreshments at the Whalebone pub.

WHETHER you call it street art, urban art, guerrilla art or graffiti art, there is no denying that such art forms have become acceptable with permission being granted in some places in Hull to create it. On Saturday 15 September 2018 Hedon Viewfinders is going to go on a Graffiti Hunt to see what all the fuss is about!

With the ever-changing nature of this art form we can almost guarantee that there will be something different to see this week than last week.

Announcement: Some of you may have heard by now of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) coming into effect May 25, 2018 – basically, in order to continue to receive updates from the Viewfinders website, subscribers have to give their permission again. In my case this coincides with me ceasing to use my current web host and using a free service instead. This means the current website at http://www.viewfinders-ttl.online will change, to be replaced by a much simpler version (this one!). With the launch of the new website, I will email out to our 100 or so subscribers and ask them to renew their interest once again. Hope to get all this in place by Fri 25th. Sorry for any inconvenience. – Ray Duffill.
