Light painting and other photographic wizardry!

Light painting and other photographic wizardry!

ALWAYS one of our most enjoyable meet-ups of the year at Hedon Viewfinders as we all create brilliant images with burning wire wool, lights, lasers and other associated wizardry at this practical photography session led by Glenn Stallard.

Using slower shutter speeds, different light sources and some simple technical gizmos and a with a heavy dose of individual imagination as you shoot, it’s possible to create really dramatic images.

Turn up to join in the fun indoors and outdoors (weather permitting) from 7pm at the Haven Arms on Wednesday 30 October 2019. If you have never done this before you will be amazed how easy it is to capture great images!

Also if people are interested, we can look at arranging a follow-up meeting to show how you can further edit your images afterwards to create even more pleasing photographs. We’ll arrange on the night for those interested.

Call for submissions to the Hedon Viewfinders Yearbook 2019.

We are producing a YEARBOOK of FAVOURITE IMAGES taken by our members in 2019. If you receive this notification as an email then you are invited to submit ONE IMAGE for publication in the book.

The DEADLINE to EMAIL your favourite image for the book is SATURDAY NOVEMBER 30 2019. Email your favourite image which should be of the highest resolution possible to viewfinders-ttl@gmx.co.uk.

Participation is key here, so even if you haven’t attended the Club for a while, then please consider being part of the Yearbook. It’s free to be included.

The book will be designed and set up on Tuesday 3rd December and those interested can come along and help in its design, look and appearance.

Hedon Viewfinders Photo Year Book 2019.

Hedon Viewfinders Photo Book 2019.

Photo Book for 2019.

There has been a suggestion from one of our members that we produce a yearbook of photographs for 2019.

It’s imagined that it would be an A4 size book that would feature at last one ‘best of year’ image from all those members of Viewfinders that wish to take part. The book would be a celebration of the variety of work made by club members.

These photobooks are usually really well produced and the publication of a Yearbook would be a great way to showcase the club and could be brought to meetings, displayed in exhibitions, etc.

There would be no cost to members, would just need high-quality digital images. Your job now is to sort through your best images of this year and decide which is your favourite for the book!

Look out for the call to submit your best images of 2019.

Whitby Goth Weekend 2019.

We’ve got a few members who have expressed an interest in going to the Whitby Goth Weekend on Sunday 27 October 2019. So this is just plugging that event and presenting information to members.

If you’ve never been before, then (weather permitting) it’s a great event to practise taking street portraits. It’s very much a friendly ‘partnership’ between the goths, steampunks and photographers who are there in their hundreds too! Mostly, the immaculately-dressed characters are more than willing to pose, just ask politely.

We encourage people to car-share, etc to share, cut travel costs. If you have a lift to offer or want a lift, then email viewfinders-ttl@gmx.co.uk and we’ll try to match people up.

Club PHOTO BOOK for the Exhibition

We hope to CREATE a high quality CLUB PHOTO BOOK for display at the Exhibition (Wed 24 April to Sat 15 June 2019)…

We hope to CREATE a high quality CLUB PHOTO BOOK for display at the Exhibition (Wed 24 April to Sat 15 June 2019).

Those that would like their images to be included in the photo book need to email through a high-resolution image (open theme) which best shows their improved photography as a result of club activity, whether at a meeting, on a field trip or posting to our Facebook Group page.

Email one image to viewfinders-ttl@gmx.co.uk please. The size of the book will be very much dependent on the responses to this appeal.

The Exhibition featuring ‘typical’ club photographs from members on the theme of “Hedon” takes place downstairs at the Hedon Museum (accessed via a snicket on Watmough’s Arcade, Hedon) every Wednesday and Saturday from Wednesday 24th April until Saturday 15th June, 10am – 1pm each day.

Meanwhile, upstairs at the museum, an exhibition of iconic 1960’s photographs taken by Paul Berriff is on display.

Reminder about the Evening with Paul Berriff on Wednesday night 17 April.
