“Flowers are the Stars!” Hedon Viewfinders Club News

Everyone is welcome at Hedon Viewfinders meetings, which will look at Flower Photography on Wednesday 30 March

On Wednesday 30 March, 7pm at the Haven Arms the session is on flower photography – and building on what we learned in recent meetings (please send your images in to publish on the website) the aim will be to “Make the Flower the Star!”.

Members are encouraged to bring their own flowers in, but we’ll have some special ‘candidates’ for stardom available. We’ll approach flower photography in the same way as studio portraits with attention to lighting and backgrounds. We’ll also look at some other techniques for creating different photographic effects.

Club Photo Walk.

At Humber Bridge Country Park on Sunday 3 April (weather permitting). Meet in the car park outside the Tourist Information Office at 11am.

All Welcome. Just turn up. There are always members present willing to help with camera settings and other advice: https://what3words.com/eating.deed.vote.

Photography Challenge – Send in your images to publish on the website.

And do continue to send in your images associated with the 52 Week Photography challenges. We will publish them on these pages. E-mail them to viewfinders-ttl@gmx.co.uk or rlduffill@gmail.com.

Our Week 11 TREES challenge resulted in this shot of a well-known scene at Sunk Island taken by Keith Maddon. And to the same challenge, Malcolm Seville responded with his image. And in response to the Week 12 Challenge ‘New to You’, Ray Duffill said that he had never light painted a boat before… until our last meeting that is!

A reminder about our Guess Where Competition which is open until Sunday 3 April 2022.

Check out #BlossomWatch Day organised by the National Trust. At the next meeting, we will discuss ways we can take part.

Hedon Viewfinders Photography Meetings and News update

It’s LIGHT PAINTING next week, making FLOWERS the stars of your photography the week after – and find out about our new WhatsApp group.

OUR NEXT MEETING on Wednesday 23 March 2022 will utilise the last of the early dark nights (clocks go forward 27 March) to do a session on Light Painting. We’ll do indoor (and outdoor sessions if weather permits) work to convince everybody just how easy it is to get spectacular shots by moving lights or moving the camera.

We’ll also have a look at light sculpturing where you can create a scene in the dark using a torch or torches.

7pm start. Wednesday 23 March 2022 at The Haven Arms, Havenside, Hedon HU12 8HH.

On Wednesday 30 March the session is on flower photography – and following on from our enjoyable product photography night (please send your images in to publish on the website) the aim will be to “Make the Flower the Star!”.

Members are encouraged to bring their own flowers in, but we’ll have some special ‘candidates’ for stardom available. We’ll approach flower photography in the same way as studio portraits with attention to lighting and backgrounds. We’ll also look at some other techniques for creating different photographic effects.

WhatsApp Group.

As those members at the last meeting will know that Ray Duffill is no longer on Facebook. He now faces the same issues as lots of members who are not part of that social network i.e. not being in the loop as far as the latest news from the club is concerned.

We are going to put extra efforts into keeping members informed via this website but we have also set up a WhatsApp group. WhatsApp is a fast, simple, secure messaging platform. This will concentrate on three things – to let members know about meetings, the latest Weekly Photography Challenges and any trips/outings organised between meetings.

If you want the link to join the WhatsApp group, then please e-mail Ray at viewfinders-ttl@gmx.co.uk or on rlduffill@gmail.com.
