Film Noir Photography Night at Hedon Viewfinders

Film Noir Photography Night

Help us set the scene for our “Film Noir” Night at Hedon Viewfinders photography club. The Meeting at 7pm on Wednesday 26 October at the Haven Arms will take an affectionate look at this cinematic style of photography.

Think the 1940s, black and white, high contrast images with low-key lighting, shadows, mystery and murder!

Bring along your kit, equipment, costume items and props to help us create the scenes.

“Flowers are the Stars!” Hedon Viewfinders Club News

Everyone is welcome at Hedon Viewfinders meetings, which will look at Flower Photography on Wednesday 30 March

On Wednesday 30 March, 7pm at the Haven Arms the session is on flower photography – and building on what we learned in recent meetings (please send your images in to publish on the website) the aim will be to “Make the Flower the Star!”.

Members are encouraged to bring their own flowers in, but we’ll have some special ‘candidates’ for stardom available. We’ll approach flower photography in the same way as studio portraits with attention to lighting and backgrounds. We’ll also look at some other techniques for creating different photographic effects.

Club Photo Walk.

At Humber Bridge Country Park on Sunday 3 April (weather permitting). Meet in the car park outside the Tourist Information Office at 11am.

All Welcome. Just turn up. There are always members present willing to help with camera settings and other advice: https://what3words.com/eating.deed.vote.

Photography Challenge – Send in your images to publish on the website.

And do continue to send in your images associated with the 52 Week Photography challenges. We will publish them on these pages. E-mail them to viewfinders-ttl@gmx.co.uk or rlduffill@gmail.com.

Our Week 11 TREES challenge resulted in this shot of a well-known scene at Sunk Island taken by Keith Maddon. And to the same challenge, Malcolm Seville responded with his image. And in response to the Week 12 Challenge ‘New to You’, Ray Duffill said that he had never light painted a boat before… until our last meeting that is!

A reminder about our Guess Where Competition which is open until Sunday 3 April 2022.

The Northern Studios visit and tour was arranged for the club by Peter Loft and we were kindly hosted by Andy from the Studios. Many thanks to both of them! This was just one of the many trips, outings, meetings and photography workshops organised by Hedon Viewfinders.

Exhibition, Meetings & Members’ Galleries

JUST a reminder that the deadline for submission of original prints for the Exhibition on the “Hedon” theme is our next meeting on Wednesday, 3 April 2019 at the Haven Arms. Please make sure you place your prints in a protective cover to keep them clean during selection. More information at: Exhibition (Guidance).

The April 3 meeting will also serve as one of our network meetings with an opportunity to catch up with other members and informally chat about club activities and plans. We’ll have some of our magazines, books and equipment available for members to loan.

Ticket sales for the Paul Berriff meeting on Wednesday 17 April are going very well. It is possible that we will be ‘full’ unless you’ve booked or purchased your tickets in advance.

There is still time to book on the 4-day Torquay club trip on Friday 7 June 2019.

We are going to do more to populate the website with examples of work from the many viewfinders who make up our fun and friendly club. The following is a random selection gleaned with permission from our Facebook Group page – if you would like your image to appear in one of our website galleries, then email to viewfinders-ttl@gmx.co.uk

Contact us for more information. Free, fun and friendly photographic club. Open to all. No membership required.
