“East Yorkshire Defences in World Wars 1 and 2“
FOLLOWING the recent poll then the talk by Mike Covell (author, historian, researcher) most requested by members is “East Yorkshire Defences in World Wars 1 and 2“. The talk by Mike will take place on Wednesday 15 June at the Haven Arms promptly at 7pm. Members and visitors are asked to arrive early to find their seats and get their drinks ready for a 7pm start.
Take a walk along the coast or the countryside and the likelihood of finding remnants of the defences put in place to protect the country from invasion is higher than you might think. Some are better preserved than others, and of course, as photographers, many of these make exciting subjects to discover and make images from!
The meeting is FREE to attend, but we will be making a collection to cover costs.
Week 22 of 52-Week Challenge – The Jubilee!
Millions will be marking the Platinum Jubilee over the next few days. Your challenge this week is not only to capture the events in images but to record those parts of the celebrations that might be overlooked by others. Millions of photos will be taken during the long bank holiday weekend, whilst many will sit on phones or camera memory cards remaining unseen, others will be pored over by future generations as unique pictures capturing the mood, atmosphere and characters involved. You know what YOUR challenge is for this Week 22!
As ever, these challenges are to encourage new photography, so we ask you not to simply re-use your existing stock.
And do please send in your images associated with these challenges – or your other activities as a Club Member. We will publish them on these pages. E-mail them to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
REMINDER: New Club game starts this Wednesday 1 June at the Club Meeting which is also a constructive critique session.
