PANNING Week 19 – and at Wednesday’s meeting too

WEEK 19 of the 52-Week Photography Challenge 2022 – PANNING:
Take a picture of a moving subject whilst moving the camera so that you blur the background to show movement. Shutter speed and handling your camera are crucial here.
It takes a bit of practice, but you can create a relatively sharp subject combined with a background that features motion blur for some stunning images.
Your challenge: Practice, and try to master panning.

As ever, these challenges are to encourage new photography, so we ask you not to simply re-use your existing stock (unless necessary for the particular challenge).

And do please send in your images associated with these challenges – or your other activities as a Club Member. We will publish them on these pages.

E-mail them to or

52 Week Photography Challenge 2022

AND this week, we’ll be taking the Challenge into the Club meeting too! We meet on Wednesday 11 May at 7pm at the Haven Arms, Havenside, Hedon, HU12 8HH.

As well as panning, we hope to show some of the work representative of the three teams that took part in our five-prop challenge that took place on 27 April. If you want to email your favourite images to and then I’ll print out an A4 selection (not all of them) for viewing at the meeting.

Hedon Viewfinders is Hedon’s own community photography club. It’s free to join. It’s free to take part in our activities. The club prides itself on its good reputation for its fun and friendly approach to studying and enjoying photography.

Meets Wednesdays every week 7pm at the Haven Arms, Havenside, Hedon HU12 8HH. But check our key dates to see if we’re there or out and about on any particular week.

Subscribe to get the news from the club every time we update this website.

ALL WELCOME. Hedon Viewfinders Photography Club at the Haven Arms
