A ‘new’ Annual Photography Competition is to take place and judged at the PRESTON SHOW on Saturday 31 July 2021. Hedon Viewfinders photography club has sponsored the competition with trophies and will help promote the event.
The traditional village show in Preston features classes of entry from ‘best vegetables’, ‘cookery’, ‘wine making’ through to various ‘arts’ and ‘crafts’ including ‘photography’. There has been a photography element as part of the traditional annual show in Preston for many years. However, this year, Hedon Viewfinders hopes to encourage more interest in photography, more entries from local people and a bigger exhibition of local talent at the show.
There will be three classes of entry. You can enter only one photograph into the competition in one of the classes.
- Colour,
- Black & White, or
- Altered Reality (this category will suit those who love to artistically manipulate their images).
Your prints (no mounting and framing) can be up to a maximum size of A4 (210 x 297 mm / 8.3 x 11.7 inches). Prints (in protective sleeves please) can be sent in advance to Hedon Viewfinders c/o 6 Johnson Court, Hedon, HU12 8EF or dropped into any Hedon Viewfinders meeting on a Wednesday evening from 6.45pm – 7pm at the Haven Arms, Hedon (see Club website for details). Or you can bring them in on the morning of the Preston Show at the Nag’s Head, Sproatley Road, Preston BEFORE 10.30am on SATURDAY 31 July 2021.
An Entry Form needs to be submitted with your print.
See the exhibition of prints and results of the judging at the Preston Show from 1pm. There will be trophies awarded for the winners of each class and an Annual Photographer of the Year trophy. Trophies will be held by the winners for one year.

Following the competition and Show, prints can be collected by photographers via arrangement with Hedon Viewfinders.
It is expected that COVID-19 restrictions will have eased by the time of the Preston Show on Saturday 31 July, but any advice issued by organisers on the day must be followed.
